Majjige Menasu
Majjige Menasu is a unique and flavorful dish that is a speciality of Karnataka. The dish is made by soaking fresh green chillies (_menasu_) in curd (_majjige_) for a long period of time, allowing the flavours to blend and infuse. The chillies are then dried, retaining their spicy flavour while also taking on a tangy, slightly sour taste from the curd.
To prepare the dish for serving, the dried chillies are fried in oil until they are crispy and golden brown. They are then served as a side dish with traditional South Indian meals, particularly rasam and curd rice. The spicy and sour flavours of the dish complement the mildness of the rice and rasam, making for a satisfying and delicious meal.
In addition to its delicious taste, the oil used to fry the chillies also contains tons of flavour, making it a great base for other dishes as well. So not only does Majjige Menasu make for a delicious snack or accompaniment, but it can also be used to enhance the flavours of other dishes.
